Welcome to another edition of Growth Labs, where we take marketing to new heights, one experiment at a time.

I'm your host, Colin Finger, and today we're diving deep into a phenomenal case study that resulted in an astounding 1,555% increase in organic traffic and a mammoth 1,562% boost in inquiries for a brand in just half a year. Yes, you read that right!

You see, the brand in question had a secret weapon in their arsenal - a potent blend of SEO wizardry and Google Ads mastery, amplified by the art of data detective work. The outcome? Their SEO efforts brought in over double the volume of business than Google Ads did, making it their crowning jewel.

So, if you've been hunting for that elusive formula to supercharge your organic traffic and send your brand soaring into the stratosphere, you're in luck. We're about to unpack exactly how it was done.

Prepare for liftoff, and let's set a course for the highest-quality source of traffic out there - organic traffic.

🔍 Dissecting the Strategy: Ecommerce SEO Goldmine

What if I told you that your SEO goldmine was right under your nose? Our case study of the day is an e-commerce brand selling custom apparel in bulk, primarily to other businesses. But here's the kicker: they had never experimented with SEO before and their primary source of customers was Google Ads.

When I delved into their strategy, it wasn't long before I noticed the goldmine they were sitting on - Google Ads data! You don't need to overcomplicate things with SEO, it can be simple. The game-changer? They already knew which keywords worked, all thanks to Google Ads. The mission was now clear: Rank organically for those very keywords.

🔎 Keyword Research: Mining the Gold

Remember folks, keyword research isn't about pulling ideas out of thin air. It's about being a detective, about using available data to unearth the right clues. In this case, the clues were sitting right in the Google Ads dashboard.

Two types of keywords were identified:

1/ Primary Keywords - Those that represented the idea of the brand as a whole.

2/ Secondary Keywords - More specific types of custom apparel the brand sold.

🔧 Technical SEO: Greasing the Gears

Next, it was time to roll up our sleeves and get down to technical SEO. Here, speed was king, and the client’s website was languishing on a slow-loading hosting provider, GoDaddy. A switch to SiteGround quickly over-doubled their loading speed.

Another roadblock? Thin content on their homepage. You want to shoot for 1,000+ words on pages you're aiming to rank. So, we beefed up the homepage with 1,000 words of keyword-optimized content. Broken links and unoptimized meta titles/descriptions were quickly fixed too.

📝 Content Creation: Laying the Foundation

Armed with secondary keywords, we started building keyword-optimized and content-rich landing pages. We also crafted blog posts to internally link to the homepage and relevant landing pages, helping Google better understand the linked page and rank it accordingly.

🔗 Link Building: Building Authority

Link building is akin to giving Google a thumbs-up from other relevant, high-authority websites. The client’s website started getting guest posts on relevant blogs, a strategy that still delivers the goods even today.

📈 The Outcome: A 1,555% Boost in Organic Traffic

Half a year into the campaign, the brand saw a 1,555% increase in organic traffic and a 1,562% increase in inquiries about their custom apparel. And their SEO produced over double the volume of business that Google Ads produced, making it their top source for business overall.

The takeaways? Keep things simple with SEO, be a detective with your data, and take advantage of what Google Ads is already telling you. It might just be your ticket to scaling your brand to the moon with the highest-quality source of traffic: organic traffic.

Until next week, keep hacking that growth!
